Clinique Long Last Soft Matte Lipstick
If you are someone who generally doesn't like matte lipstick due to it's dryness, then the Clinique Long Last Soft Matte lipstick could be the one for you, as it was for me.
This lipstick, as the name suggests, is so unbelievably soft and gorgeous. I love how a matte lipstick looks but I never wear one because it leaves my lips feeling uncomfortable and dry. I don't have very dry chapped lips but they can be on the dry side in the colder weather, especially around Christmas when you want to get the statement red matte lips on. So, apart from the rare occasion I feel like a matte red lip, I avoid matte lipstick.
Until that is I came across this Clinique one. I received this in a bonus gift set (I discover many secrets in these gift sets) and so it cost me nothing to try it out. I didn't just think this was a matte lipstick that I could wear, I actually prefer this to many of my lipsticks at the moment. And of course it helped that the colour I received is one of the nicest colours I have come across for a while. I would say lipstick is the last makeup product I will give attention to. I'm all about the eyes, and complexion. So, as long as I have a few neutral lipsticks, a peach/coral, an occasional red, I am happy and don't really shop for more. One of the reasons being, I have bought so many that have turned out to not suit me. It's difficult to find the perfect shades that suit me. It's a bit like "finding the one" in love! Once you find it, you keep it. Only in the lipstick world, you can have many "ones". So, the Clinique Long Last Soft Matte Lipstick in "Matte Beauty" is one of my ones! This colour just lights up my face once I apply it, it totally works for me. It brings my whole makeup look together and suits me perfectly. It is a true pink shade, not too bright but not neutral, well pigmented. It's a pink that I believe works well in the autumn/winter and of course it will not fail when it comes back round to spring/summer.
It has a very soft velvety feel and glides aimlessly across your lips and once you rub your lips together you can feel them well moisturised. No dryness at all (although I would suggest you still use lip balm before). This feeling is long lasting, as is the lipstick itself. It has a very slight sheen to it but still very much looks like a matte lipstick, quite genius really. They are long lasting and when they do start to fade, they settle into an almost stain on the lips, like a worn look, which I personally like.
I would definitely recommend those averse to dry matte lipsticks to try these. They cost £18.50/$17.
