Lip balms for me fall into the same category as hand creams, I'm obsessed with buying them, I have quite a few and I have one in every corner. And I'm not one of those people who must be constantly reapplying lip balm all day (god knows how many they have!). I probably only use lip balm once or twice a day but I'd totally freak out if I needed it and I didn't have one to hand.
I currently have 3 on the go and I wouldn't usually have more than this at any one time. The Clinique Superbalm Lip Treatment is an absolute essential and will always remain one of the 3. It is a fantastic lip treatment for when your lips actually need repairing from dryness, chapped lips or that burning sensation you get when they have been overexposed to the elements. I wouldn't use this to just nourish my lips on a normal day, I save this for when it is needed. For these reasons, this lip balm stays in my handbag so it is always with me. It does feel quite sticky when you squeeze it from the tube onto your finger but once on the lips it absorbs and your lips are left feeling a little tacky (in a nice nourishing way) but not at all sticky.
I've always been a fan of the Carmex lip balms/creams, particularly the little pots of balm. But at the moment I am using the Carmex lip balm tube in strawberry. I like that this one has a hint of flavour to it but it's not overpowering. It's very nourishing and moistens your lips when needed. I would tend to use this one if my lips felt a little dry but not chapped. This one stays on my desk in the studio.
And then I picked up this Nivea Hydra Care one because it has an spf15 (I think the Cramex actually has an spf15 also). I leave this one on my dressing table and use it every morning before I start applying my makeup and by the time it comes to putting on my lipstick my lips are quite moisturised. I tend to use this every morning whether I need it or not. But it isn't nourishing enough if your lips are quite dry. If they need attention, I will use one of the others. I always take this one on my sun holidays and reapply it throughout the day.
Do I need 3 lip balms? Probably not but the 3 I have on the go seem to be working quite well for me in terms of level of need!
