Book Review - After You By Jo Jo Moyes
This book is the sequel to Jojo Moyes fantastic novel Me Before You, which was one of the best chick lits I have ever read. It was thoroughly enjoyable and the one liners were second to none. So, it was a no brainer when the sequel came out it went straight on my reading list. I don't think the author had any intention of writing a follow up but she had so many requests that she did.
The best way I can describe this book is that it was ok. It was nowhere near as good as Me Before You but it was interesting to find out what happened to Louisa Clark. I did get bored at certain points in the book and it felt like the author did to. I think she probably should have left Louisa at the end of the first book.
It wasn't bad, it just wasn't great. I tend to only review books that I really enjoyed but I wanted to share my thoughts on this one because I had reviewed Me Before You in advance of this one coming out.
Would I advise you to read it? If you're curious (like I was), then my all means read it, just don't expect it to be as good. If you're not bothered about knowing what happened next, then you're not really missing anything. One thing I would say is, although you could probably read it as a stand alone book, I would strongly advise you not to because a) you're missing something great by not reading the first one and b) in order to bring the reader up to date on Louisa's life it tells you the storyline to the first so it would spoil it if you then decided to read the first one.
It hasn't put me off reading Jojo Moyes books in the future as I have read a couple of other ones by her and I did enjoy them. She's a great author.
