Five Spice Beef With Noodles
This is one of the nicest and quickest meals we have come across. It's perfect for those nights that you don't have time to prepare a meal that takes time or when you are just not in the mood for cooking. Trust me, this is as quick as going to the shop for an already prepared meal. The flavours are immense and truly delicious, hot and spicy making it a good option for winter. This meal was the first time I tried chineese five spice and I was really pleasantly surprised. It's quite distinctive and different to other hot spices.
250g steak, cut into strips
1 1/2 nests medium egg noodles
Thumb-sized piece ginger, finely grated
1 or 2 cloves of garlic, crushed
1/2 heaped tsp five-spice powder
1/8 tsp chilli powder
1/2 fresh chilli (optional, depending on how hot you like it)
110g sugar snap peas
200ml beef stock
1 1/2 tbsp soy sauce
1. Heat a non-stick frying pan or wok. Add olive oil and cook the steak strips until well browned.
2. Boil the noodles according to the pack instructions.
3. Add the ginger, garlic, five-spice, fresh chilli (if using), chilli powder and sugar snap peas to the pan with the cooked steak. Fry for a few minutes until the pods are bright green.
4. Add the stock, then the noodles and season with the soy sauce. Serve in bowls using tongs.
