November has barely got off to a start, in fact all those moustaches are still in the very early stages so bare with them, they will look like the real thing in no time! A big shout out to all those men who are taking part in helping to promote Movember.
It is however up to the rest of us to support them in their challenge. Ok, it might not be a big deal to grow a moustache (facial hair is quite in at the moment) but it is a very big deal the reason they are doing it. The Movember Foundation is the only global charity focused solely on men's health. Although the organisation is continually raising funds, the Movember challenge has become globally recognised for its fun approach to fundraising and in particular getting men to take action for their health, which is paramount because mens health is not talked about among fathers, brothers and friends.
Movember has helped to generate conversations which in turn has helped fund 1,200 innovative men's health projects across 21 countries focusing on prostrate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention.
Raise funds for Movember by walking, running, swimming, cycling or rowing, hosting an event to raise funds towards mens health or making a donation.
Everything the Movember Foundation does is to stop men dying too young and help them live happier, healthier, longer lives.
By 2030, they have committed to reducing the number of men dying prematurely by 25%; halving the number of deaths from prostate and testicular cancer and reducing the number of men taking their own lives by 25%.
They will achieve this by giving men the facts; changing behaviour for the better; creating services for men that work and funding breakthrough research.
