Brands We Desire....Hourglass!

Hourglass is currently one of the most popular beauty brands on the market. A very modern brand that caters for the very modern and forward thinking woman. Carisa Janes, founder of the Venice, Californian-based brand, built it up from the age of 29, having a personal interest in getting it right since she struggled with her own skin problems. Despite the popularity of the brand and it's success with celebrities, it's the continued innovation that has kept it up there at the top. Founded in 2004, Carisa was committed to reinventing luxury cosmetics and the brand become known for its breakthrough formulations. Hourglass complexion products in particular have groundbreaking active ingredients to create the most perfect skin.

There are a few cult products within the brand and although they are at a higher end price, the products reflect this price range. In this case, you are getting what you pay for, i.e. luxury. It's a simplistic niche brand without all the fuss and confusion of other brands in terms of tons of colour ranges but you will always find what you want. The colour range is quite superior with a colour to suit everyone.

Hourglass have the most beautiful range of products and unlike other brands, there are very few items that aren't raved about. Although we all have different wants and needs, this is a brand that you can be fairly confident won't disappoint. It is a bit of a luxury treat given the price point so it's a investment you may make less often but enjoy immensely. And Hourglass products make fantastic presents. If you have a budget of £40 to spend on your best friend or someone close, one hourglass product will be very much appreciated rather than a few bits and pieces adding up to £40. Beauty junkies will know the value of an Hourglass present.

We have picked out some of our favourite Hourglass items:

The powders are probably the most popular product within the brand, with a superior formulation. Hourglass powders are really one of the best powders on the market. They are so finely milled that applying them is absolutely beautiful. They blend well and the colour range for the blushers and bronzers is lovely with good payoff. The finishing powders and highlighters catch the surrounding light to give you the most perfect luminous finish. The palette above features 3 best selling shades but you can also buy them individually. This palette costs £59 and the individual products start at £34.

Hourglass Extreme Sheen High Shine Lip Gloss is another gorgeous product from the brand. It's quite a high shine lip gloss with good pigment and no stickiness. A very hydrating lip gloss that nourishes the lips, containing vitamin E. The shape of the tube makes for ease of application. I love the packaging of the product, it looks so cool! It costs £22.

The Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick got fantastic reviews when it was launched. A convenient full coverage foundation stick with a very light texture and the fluidity of a liquid. It covers everything so you can apply it under the eye and on spots to hide a multitude. Also, use a synthetic brush and apply it all over the face to create an effortlessly blended medium to full coverage foundation with the glow you desire from its satin finish. No dryness or cakiness that you sometimes associate with a foundation stick. This one costs £42.

The Hourglass 1.5MM Mechanical Gel Eye Liner is an amazing product. The tip of these eye liners are so tiny they offer such precision and control and therefore make it foolproof to use. You can really get close to the eyelashes and between them. The formula is hydrating and glides across the lid without any dragging. A true opaque black. They come in a pack of three and cost £39.

So there you have it, our low down on the niche brand Hourglass .
