Pantone Purple Named After Prince
Pantone has a new official and permanent shade, which has been created in honour of Prince. The Pantone Colour Institute partnered with the estate of the late artist to create the new standard colour called "Love Symbol #2'. The shade was inspired by Prince's symbol and his custom made Yamaha purple piano, which he planned to take on tour with him before he died.
Purple is the colour that Prince became associated with during his career, most famously from the 1984 film Purple Rain but a colour that also made its way into the wardrobe of Prince. The 30th anniversary of the deluxe edition of the Purple Rain album was released a couple of months ago.
The iconic musician sadly passed away last year from an accidental overdose. But his legacy will live on through his music and the colour Purple, now known as "Love Symbol #2".
