C.O. Bigelow Rose Salve
I've been finding myself reaching for lip balm a lot more frequently in the last week or two. The temperature has dropped slightly but it has been quite windy and this along with the central heating being turned up a notch has started to show tell tale signs with my lips.
I am quite a fan of using lip balm at the best of times, sometimes choosing it over a lipstick on minimal makeup days, but when the seasons start to change I definitely find that I need to use it rather than just wanting to use it. So much so that I ensure there is always one to hand, one lives in my handbag permanently, one at my bedside table and one on my desk at work.
One of my current favourites is this beautiful Rose Salve from C.O. Bigelow, not least because I adore the classic old fashioned branding. C.O. Bigelow is a brand that goes back to 1838 when it first opened its door in New York and they have held on to their traditional look and feel as well as their high quality products.
This lip balm is so soothing and conditioning. It has a slight oiliness to the formula with zero stickiness so your lips feel extremely soft and nourished but without that feeling like you are wearing tons of product. Its rose extract helps to relieve irritation and calm that burning sensation you get with wind and central heating.
I use C.O. Bigelow Rose Salve just on my lips but it is also a multi purpose Rose Salve that can be used on the face, cuticle, elbows, knees, chapped or dry patches. The only one thing I would say is that during the depths of winter if my lips are very chapped and sore, I don't quite find this sufficient enough. But for now, while my lips just need extra nourishing and moisturising, I'm loving this product.
It's available at Liberty London for £8.50.
