Phantom Thread - Glamorous Post-War British Couture

Set in post war London's couture world of the 1950s, Daniel Day Lewis takes on the role of bachelor designer Reynolds Woodcock, who falls in love with a young waitress, played by Vicky Krieps. Reynolds and his sister Cyril (played by Lesley Manville) are at the centre of British fashion, dressing royalty, movie stars and socialites. 

Although the world of couture has been explored many times, the London scene has been rarely examined. It makes for the perfect backdrop of this love story. 

Reynolds Woodcock, of the House of Woodcock, may be a fictional character but the clients who visit the house are based on real historical accounts.

Director Paul Thomas Anderson takes us on a creative journey of an artist and the women around him. This is Anderson's eighth movie and his second collaboration with Daniel Day Lewis.

Phantom Thread has received Academy Award Nominations in six categories. It is released on 2 February. Watch the trailer below:
