The BAFTA's 2018

Following on from the Golden Globes, the BAFTA's last night at The Royal Albert Hall London demonstrated a show of solidarity against equality and justice, with women wearing black and displaying their Time's Up pins, an organisation that saw sizeable donations from Emma Watson and Keira Knightley. Many winners highlighted their support for the cause in their acceptance speech as did many of those presenting awards.

The BAFTA's this year was presented by Joanna Lumley, who took over from Stephen Fry after twelve years running. Not sure if it was deliberate that a woman stepped up to the podium this year. The Shape Of Water, Darkest Hour and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri dominated the ceremony, with well deserved men and women scooping up awards. The main category winners were:

Although the red carpet was adorned with black dresses, the stars wore them beautifully, one in particular that stood out for us was Lupita Nyong'o, does this girl ever get it wrong?!

Despite the show of black dresses, Frances McDormand chose not to wear one, however in her speech, joking about her 'trouble with compliance', she assured everyone that she 'stood in solidarity with my sisters tonight in black'. Watch her heartfelt speech below:
