Top Five Make-up Products
Beauty junkies have a bit of an obsession when it comes to makeup. They like trying new things all the time and so they end up with drawers or bags of products that they may or may not use. So, when something new comes out, they want to try it and they may love it at that moment but perhaps put it to the side when the next best thing comes along. So, if you head off to do your research on a product you will find lots of reviews, some current and some not. It can be a bit of a mind field to pick the best, especially if you are someone who only wishes to have the bare essentials but the best of these essentials.
So, what I have done for this article is to pick my favourite 5 makeup products. I have tried to pick 5 products that could be used to complete a full makeup look but I haven't done this exclusively or to the point that I have included one product over another to achieve this. I truly believe that at this moment in time, and for quite some time in some cases, that these are my top five favourite makeup products that I personally use and couldn't be without.
Laura Mercier Candleglow Soft Luminous Foundation is my favourite foundation. I use another one for occasions when I want a fuller coverage but for a light to medium coverage, which for me is most days, this is the winner for me. The consistency is so light it could be a tinted moisturiser, it offers enough coverage but at the same time allows your skin to show through so that the finish is beautifully natural with a fabulous glow. You don't feel like your are wearing foundation and you do feel that your skin is still breathing. Although I do like to try others foundations from time to time, I always come back to this one as my staple.
This is a new one for me and I already know that it is going to stay with me forever! The Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Highlighter has been on my wishlist for a couple of years and I finally bought it. I absolutely love this product and since I bought it I have been using it every day (that I wear makeup that is). I love wearing highlighter but it is something I only did when I had extra time but now I make sure I save time to include it into my everyday makeup look. It adds that extra glow in places where it is needed and blends so beautifully into the skin, you wouldn't even know you were wearing it. It just looks like you have a fabulous healthy glow.
I have spent years trying to find the perfect mascara. And I don't believe I am alone. It's the bane of most peoples lives. I have a few that I use but when I want to look my best, I always reach for Lancome Hypnose Mascara. If I just want a quick coat of something to pop to the shop or for minimal makeup days, I may reach for one of my others but this is the one that I know won't ever let me down. That's not to say I won't try others in the future but a) it's a major pain in the butt and I mostly end up disappointed and b) as long as I have Lancome Hypnose I am completely satisfied.
Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge are little pots of genius. They are for the cheeks and lips and so quite versatile, especially to pop in your handbag for during the day touch ups. Although I only wear it on the cheeks, maybe the odd time pat a little on my lips prior to lipstick. This blush adds the most perfect hint of coloured glow to your cheeks to complete a radiant makeup look. As you can tell, I am all for the glow! You can add a little for a subtle touch of colour or you can build it up for a full blush. The best way to apply it is to tap it into the apples of your cheeks (don't rub) and I sometimes finish off blending it with a stippling brush if I think I need to. I have this pot rouge in three colours, Calypso Coral, Pale Pink and Powder Pink. A little touch up of this during the day can make you look like you have reapplied your full makeup.
I was never a huge lipstick person. I liked to have a few favourites that I alternated between depending of my look and colour that particular day. Some people are lipstick queens. However, I have found myself venturing to try many more than I ever would have. Not sure why, it's just something that happened. I think it could possibly have something to do with the fact that I was on a quest to find the perfect nude lipstick (check it out here). In my quest, I constantly came across the Dior Lip Glow which everyone was raving about. So, I had to try it (in Coral). This lipstick is my perfect go to because it seems to match everything. Despite the fact that it is coral, it works with your natural lip colour to enhance them so the colour is quite sheer. It is extremely hydrating which is one of the main reasons I reach for it all the time. It stays in my handbag permanently. It is a cross between a lipstick and a balm so as well as getting a subtle wash of colour, your lips are being conditioned at the same time. The finish is a soft glow, not a gloss, just enough shine to complete a glowing makeup look.
So, that is my top 5 favourite makeup products. I have many others that I like but these 5 are without doubt the ones that I will continue to re-purchase.
