Making Waves With Pretty Green

The theme behind Pretty Green collections are always very apt and their Spring Summer 2018 collection is no different. Inspired by the adventure and bold imagination of pirate radio, an era defined by extraordinary imagination, a spirit of adventure and a bold sense of Britishness. 1964 was the year that would change the face of British pop and youth culture forever.

Broadcasting from international waters, this was the only way that new radio stations could legally operate, often transmitting from disused sea forts and old fishing ships. These radio stations received huge audiences with the DJ's becoming cult heroes. By 1967 it was all over when law was passed bringing an end to the era of original pirate radio.

An era which inspired Pretty Green's SS18 collection, with cable knits inspired by classic fishermen jumpers, the Chambray shirt bears a naval nod thanks to its distinctive jacquard anchor detail, their take on the classic Breton stripe and a wool version of the timeless mandarin jacket, with a durability reminiscent of old naval outerwear.

The Pretty Green SS18 collection: an homage to the people and music that shaped popular culture as we know it today.
