Serena Williams Launches Her Own Clothing Collection
Serena Williams is back. And not just on the court. The tennis star today launched her own fashion line in sportswear and evening wear. So, despite the fact that she is putting all her efforts into tennis right now at the French Open, it seems that she has also been busy off court. Her main focus for her brand is to make people look good at an affordable price i.e. less than $250 (£188).
The Serena collection will include denim, t-shirts, jackets, underwear and dresses, in particular a slip dress that she describes as:
“The slip dress is so classic, and I wanted to bring it in more of a silk crepe, something that has more texture. You know, usually silk slips are just smooth—which I love—but I wanted to do something different. You know I love to be different.”
Although it may come as a bit of a surprise, it's actually not the first time Williams has ventured into the fashion industry, she previously collaborated with Nike and American retailer HSN (Home Shopping Network) and studied at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale for two years.
A new mum with curves, Serena has modelled her collection on what she wants from clothes, how she wants to look and more importantly how she wants to feel. So the real women of the world can rest assured that this collection of clothing is for you. And she has had a little more time to think about the collection considering she was scheduled to launch eight months ago but got a little distracted, with a baby and a wedding.
A new baby, grand slam competitions to win and now a clothing line, this is one busy lady.
