Met Gala 2018: Red Carpet Highlights

The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York held it's 2018 Met Gala last night for it's rather controversial themed event Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination, allowing many fashion designers to transpose their own imaginations onto the red carpet via many famous faces across the world of fashion, music, film and art. This event is considered one of the highlights of NewYork's social calendar.

These famous people come together to raise funds for the Met's Costume Institute and celebrate the grand opening of its latest exhibition, which features 40 Vatican vestments and accessories spanning 15 papacies.

Celebrating it's 70th anniversary, the Met Gala 2018 is chaired by Anna Wintour (a role she has undertaken since 1995) and upon her request this year, will be co-chaired by Amal Clooney, Rihanna and Donatella Versace.

Andrew Bolton, curator, said in a statement on The Met's website;

"Fashion and religion have long been intertwined, mutually inspiring and informing one another. Although this relationship has been complex and sometimes contested, it has produced some of the most inventive and innovative creations in the history of fashion."

All eyes were on the red carpet as Rihanna wore the most amazing outfit, dressed in a papal inspired gown from Maison Margiela by John Galliano. Rihanna has stole the show on many occasions at this event. Katy Perry arrived in flamboyant feather wings by Versace. One of our favourite outfits of the night was Kendall Jenner in the most fabulous trouser outfit by Off-White. She looked absolutely stunning.

Mica Argañaraz, Anja Rubik, Amber Valletta, Kate Moss, Charlotte Casiraghi and Charlotte Gainsbourg all got their legs out, dressed in Anthony Vaccarello for Saint Laurent.
