Dior Men's SS19 Show
From one high profile celebrity to the next, the front row was adorned with spectators who showed up for the Dior Menswear SS19 show at Paris Fashion Week. With Kate Moss and Victoria Beckham taking front row seats, you can expect a good show. They don't get out of bed for anything less than spectacular.
Another debut show, this time the British designer Kim Jones presented his first collection for Dior Menswear, with Prince Nikolai of Denmark leading the show on the catwalk. The collection paid tribute to Mr Dior himself, as Jones based it on Christian Dior's personal life.
Jones first collection took on a more 'relaxed man' feel to it than Dior's previous collections, so making his stamp on the new Dior man. While still maintaining sophistication there was sportswear influences within the collection and Dior's famous saddle bag featured for the first time in menswear.
Kim Jones collaborated with New York-based artist Kaws, who created a BFF doll that was dressed in clothes from the SS19 Baby Dior collection (I'm sure you've seen them all over instagram). Kaws, aka Brian Donnelly, also created the set for the show, which included a giant floral BFF version of Mr Dior.
Jones left Louis Vuitton, where he had been for seven years, to join Dior. He trained at Central Saint Martins, launched his eponymous brand, was headhunted by Dunhill and then arrived at Louis Vuitton. An impressive career history for a young designer.
