Karl Lagerfeld Memorial To Take Place In Paris
The two fashion powerhouses that Karl Lagerfeld famously creatively directed are coming together to present a memorial to the fashion designer. Chanel and Fendi will present Karl For Ever at the Grand Palais in Paris, the iconic venue which Lagerfeld transformed many times for his Chanel shows since 2005.
The event will take place during Men’s Fashion Week on June 20. It will include video footage of Lagerfeld and his collaborators as well as much loved dance, music and theatre performances adored by the designer. Rather than his work as a creative designer, the memorial will pay tribute to Karl Lagerfeld the person, who he was and what he loved, which will undoubtedly go hand in hand with getting to know the man behind the brands he worked for, an insight into his creative thinking and what inspired him and his collections.
Chanel and Fendi have of course already paid tribute to their much loved creative director during his last runway collection AW19, by playing David Bowie’s Heroes during their finale. Chanel’s most famous designer (second only to Coco Chanel herself) was one of the most prolific fashion designers within the industry. This is a man who was inevitably going to work right up until he took his last breath…..and that he did.
Karl For Ever, an invitation only event, will be orchestrated by theatre and opera director Robert Carsen.
