Karl Lagerfeld's Final Collection For Chanel

A very poignant Chanel show at Paris Fashion Week saw the last collection by Karl Lagerfeld presented to his many fans. Tears were hard to fight back as his many muses and models close to the designer showed their emotion and true sadness as they said a final farewell to one of the most celebrated fashion designers of all time.

Although he passed away two weeks before the show, every last detail was signed off on before his death. A winter wonderland came to life for the Fall/Winter 2019/20 show at Grand Palais in Paris, with chalets and snow covered mountains as the backdrop. Cara Delevingne lead the show, following a minute silence, as she stepped out wearing a fresh take on Chanel classics. Heritage fabrics and a nod to the Englishman’s wardrobe was the shows opening looks. Skiwear, the Chanel skirt suit, puffa jackets at their best all featured in the show with a special homage to Karl himself with one look incorporating a white ruffled shirt with black cravat, a chained belt and vinyl trousers.

Penelope Cruz walked for the show, carrying a single blush rose as a tribute to the designer, with the haute couture bride Luna Bijl closing the show, before David Bowie’s ‘Heroes’ played out.

Karl Lagerfeld’s spirit will live on through Chanel and through the fashion world as a whole.

It has been confirmed that Virginie Viard will take over from Lagerfeld.
